NRCO and NATCCO Diaspora Program Meeting

April 27, 2023--NATCCO, through its Diaspora Program had a synergetic meeting with the Department of Migrant Workers under the National Reintegration Center for OFW (NRCO).

This productive meeting covered NATCCO and NRCO’s introduction of both organizations with its plan for the cooperative and government partnership in a span of a five-year road map. It aims to provide long term goals for our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) through livelihood project and sustainable reintegration to the community upon their return.

In the process of deliberate conceptualization, we believe that co-ops are well positioned to help NRCO to achieve the reintegration mission of OFWs primarily by raising awareness and financial literacy through various trainings and equip them to have an investment plan towards financial development. This also debunks the principle of our dear OFWs whereas they believe that there’s no life to get back to on their motherland, instead, instill a mindset that they are working in order to achieve an ideal life they perceive upon their return.

Participants of the meeting includes Mr. Dennis M. Cabato (Chief Labor Employment Officer), Mr. Yusoph Admain (OIC Chief-PPTSD), Ms. Leslie Uyguangco and Shiela Malazzab (Labor Employment Officers), Ms. Andrea Luisa C. Andie and Ms. Rozalyn G. Ramos (Consultants) for the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) under the NRCO team. Under the cooperative sector we have, Mr. Alejandro Almendral, Mr. Joel Joson, Ms. Lasalette Gumban (Diaspora and Climate Action Program Unit Head), and Ms. Shannen Mercado (Diaspora and Climate Action Associate).
