NATCCO Network and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Commit to Financial Wellness for OFWs and Their Families

The NATCCO Network and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) have pledged to support Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families in achieving financial wellness. This commitment will be pursued through initiatives in financial education, business development services, and access to financial services, ensuring sustainable reintegration thru NATCCO’s partner cooperatives.

In celebration of Migrant Workers’ Week, NATCCO Network signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for its Diaspora Program on June 6, 2024. The MoU was signed by Ms. Daisybelle Cabal, Chief Operating Officer, and Ms. Lasalette Gumban, Advocacy Unit Head of NATCCO, along with Atty. Felicitas Q. Bay, OIC Undersecretary, and Atty. Hans Leo J. Cacdac, Secretary of the DMW. The Development Action for Women Network (DAWN) also entered into a partnership with DMW for the social empowerment of migrant women.

This year's celebration theme, "Bagong Bayani Kaagapay sa Bagong Pilipinas", aligns perfectly with the objectives of NATCCO Diaspora’s Program. The initiative aims to leverage remittances to foster local economic growth through the cooperative movement. By providing OFWs and their families with the necessary tools and support, the program aspires to transform remittances into sustainable investments that benefit local communities.

The collaboration between NATCCO and the DMW underscores the importance of collective efforts in promoting financial stability and economic empowerment for OFWs. Through targeted financial education programs, business development services, and the access to financial services, this partnership aims to ensure that OFWs and their families can achieve long-term financial security.

As the Philippines continues to honor its modern-day heroes, the efforts of NATCCO and the DMW highlight the crucial role of cooperatives in transforming the economic landscape. By focusing on sustainable reintegration, the partnership seeks to create a supportive environment where OFWs can thrive both abroad and upon their return home.
